Brompton Bike P6R - Rare and Highly Sort After!Made in London at the Brompton factory in August 2006.The bike is in good condition and has been used for short journeys over the last few months. I am actually very sad to see it go but my wife surprised me with a new one recently and I have no need for two. It has actually been sat unused for a few years until the first lock down this year, when I fell back in love with it, so it’s actually been very under used. It’s a 6 gear Brompton (which in my opinion is the only option worth getting as the three gear versions I have tried just don’t match it’s power). In terms of visible wear the main examples are shown in the photos:1. The handle bar foam has cracked a little on the under side of the bottom bar corners. This can easily be covered with handle bar tape if desired. 2. There is a very small amount of rust (about the size of a penny coin) on the left hand side of the rear wheel frame. The handlebar style is the much sort after P shape. Considered by many the most versatile Brompton handlebar configuration the P bar offers the best of both worlds for both upright and lower racing positions achievable. It’s the handlebar favoured by those who go touring around the world on long distance rides for this reason. Personally I never ride further than 20 miles and it suited me perfectly for all rides. P is highly sort after as Brompton now only offer them for people making custom orders. I bought this bike second hand and it is registered to me in the Brompton serial data base, but I can gladly change this over for the new owner. I have given the bike a good clean (as you can see in the pictures) and it’s still in good working order. One of the gears cables has a little rust at the top of it (as shown in the picture) but I was recently told by John’s Cycles in Barnet that this would only cost about £30 to replace. It still operates fully currently. The bike has a Dynamo system on it for the front and rear light but has recently stopped working. I am sure it’s a simple fix but I didn’t bother as I personally have never been a fan of the Dynamo and found the lights not bright enough anyway, so I have always used my own clip on chargeable lights for maximum visibility. The bike also has a rack on it. Both the Dynamo and the rack can be removed if desired but I find the rack gives extra stability.Upgrades:Eazy wheels have been added to the rack for ease of rolling the bike when folded. This comes in very handy in shops and trains / stations. I had the clip / trigger added to the bike which clips the rear wheel frame in place and then the trigger releases it. This is now a standard component with all brompton bikes but wasn’t at the time of this models build. The original saddle has been replaced with a premium red brompton saddle with a grip. These are no longer on sale and subsequently very rare and make this bike a real one of a kind. Should you have any questions then please do ask. I am a huge Brompton bike fan and couldn’t recommend them higher. Great to ride, very fast and comfortable and perfect for convenience. The ease of zipping to the shops and just throwing your bike in the basket is so useful. Taking it on tubes and trains is so cool also. I occasionally get the train to remote places around the UK with one and explore. It’s an amazing piece of kit for so many reasons. STRICTLY COLLECTION ONLY - NO COURIERS!!Collection from West Finchley (near the tube station).Payment MUST be made via PayPal immediately after auction ending.
