Islabike Luath Pro 26 in Carbon Grey - Limited EditionThe Pro Series was a limited run design by Islabikes as a high end bike for kids, with the same geometry as the Luath 26 (26” wheels, 17” frame) but with carbon parts, disk breaks, 11 speed Ultra cassette (not just 8 speed like the normal Luath).In general all the components on it are a grade or two above the standard Luath, with carbon forks and seat post and aluminium drop bars, making the bike almost 10% or 1kg lighter than the current 2020-21 Luath 26. Without pedals it weighs just 7.9kg. You won’t find a similar spec on any other kids bike I can guarantee that. I’ve added the full spec in the photos.The Pro series lasted from 2016-2019. Google the reviews they are all 9/10, dropping a point because the price tag of £1,500 was a bit eye watering.As the standard Pro only came with cyclocross wheels I has some road rims custom made with centrelock disc hubs, black rims, Sapim spokes and Ultegra rotors. These road runs use the standard Isla tyres, if ever they need replacing. As the road rims include the hub and rear mech you can swap between the cyclocross and road rims in about 30s as the front and back wheels are quick release. I’m honestly gutted my son has grown so fast and we hardly rode this year because all the events were cancelled. I was hoping to get another season out of this bike, but alas its now getting too small for him.It's a stunning bike, with a few scratches as its now 18 months old, but you can see these in the photos and comes with both a set of road and cyclo cross tyres.I’ll accept sensible offers bearing in mind you can’t buy this model any more (although spare parts are still available from Isla) and it cost me well over £1,500 if I consider the new set of road wheels.The bumph from the Isla website was as follows:Geometry of the Luath Pro Series mimics that of the Luath models in the current range for true cyclocross style geometry. The Luath Pro Series inspires confidence thanks to a long wheel base and relatively slack head angle which helps keep the bike stable. The bike, with its custom designed Islabikes full carbon fork, has also been designed to eliminate toe overlap with the front wheel – especially important when at lower speeds. Young riders carry their weight differently to adults with their centre of gravity based closer to their hips – adults have greater weight in the torso. To cater for this, the Luath has a relatively steep seat tube angle which helps to keep weight central. This steeper seat tube angle further assists with reach for smaller arms. The Luath Pro Series features a super low bottom bracket, something which is made possible thanks to the new super low Q-Factor Islabikes cranks. As a result, the bikes offer very low stand over heights. Finally, the bikes have been designed to provide ample tyre clearance for mud shedding capability.Control points are very important – especially for smaller riders. Islabikes have produced their own child specific drop handlebars that measure just 22.2mm in diameter. This benefits smaller hands and allows for a tighter bend in the drops. All small details that add up to deliver control and inspire confidence.Tyres are an extremely important consideration in cyclocross and with limited choice available for children, Islabikes decided to invest in their own dedicated cyclocross tyre. When paired with a Stan’s rim, the Islabikes Cyclocross tyres meet all UCI regulations for racing. Lightweight, with a folding bead they are tubeless compatible – all bikes ship with a tubeless valve. The tyres offer excellent grip in the mud and yet roll well on hard pack. 185tpi kevlar construction ensures a supple ride and cream sidewalls complete a classy finish.Stopping power is taken care of by Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes for all weather reliability. Mechanical brakes have been selected as the levers are better suited for smaller riders and offer greater reach adjustment than their hydraulic counterparts.Happy to answer other q's or send more photos - can ship but ideally would collect London W12 9TB.
