This frame was given to me in a run down state. I have stripped off the old paint all the way to the bare metal and then it was resprayed black colour.
Things which are brand new on the bike
Shimano UN54 Bottom bracket
Condor front brake
Chain
Real leather saddle
Saddle post
Other parts are secondhand but good condition and fully working.
Including Brick Lane Bikes crank set
1/8"x 46T front cog wheel
17 teeth rear cog wheel
Flip flop rear wheel option- only fixed cog on it.
It runs really well.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
I've spent a lot of time on this bike fixing it and researching parts.
The frame is most likely was made by Pashley.
This is a message I received from a person from Haden company, who made the bottom bracket shell for this bicycle.
"Looking through one of our old catalogues (1980) I can see now that it is not a Post Office bicycle of that period - the reason being that PO bikes had a bent top tube enabling greater adjustment on height of the saddle.
Also PO bikes of that period had lamp brackets welded onto the frame and fork. Having said that, there were quite a lot of design changes in the 1990s as the design evolved towards an open frame.
Your model is anyway what is known as an equal wheel carrier cycle. It would have originally had wheels with wider rims and tyres.
Unless more than 40 years old it would almost certainly have been made by Pashleys
Carrier cycles with a smaller (20 inch) front wheel enabling a deeper basket to be fitted were known as 'low gravity' or 'butchers' bikes."
I am currently using this bike until it's sold.
