Vintage steel racing bike Louison Bobet Vitus Profil Aero tubing Spidel Eroica

This is a rare Louison Bobet branded, Vitus Profil framed vintage racing bike. The seat tube and down tube are aero shaped. Dating from late 1970’s the bike is highly unusual and retains most of its original components. The tyres and tubes are new, as is the bar tape. The Brake levers are a later replacement and date from the 1980’s. There are some blisters and chips in the paintwork, the chrome on the forks has a few losses on the blades and on the crown. The shaped tubes make this quite an unusual frame and having a nearly complete original group set on it makes it a rare survivor. Louison Bobet was the 1st rider to win the Tour de France 3 times, in 1953, 1954 and 1955. He put his name to a range of bikes after retirement. The components are listed below:             Louison Bobet frame using Vitus Profil aero shaped lightweight tubing.             Seat tube measures 56cm, Top tube is 56cm. Forks are chromed steel.             Front derailleur- Spidel branded Simplex.             Rear derailleur- Spidel SX610.             Chain set - Spidel alloy (175mm arm length) Stronglight chain rings 52/42.             Gear levers - Spidel band-on.             Pedals - Maillard Atom with Lapize chrome toe clips and straps.             Wheels - Mailliard hubs on Mavic Module =E= rims, 6 speed Mailliard block.             Headset - Stronglight             Brakes - Spidel side pull callipers, Modolo QT EXE levers.             Handlebars - Belleri aluminium track bars (very unusual), unbranded alloy stem.              Seatpost - Spidel alloy.            Saddle - Brooks B15 vintage leather saddle.Payment is by PayPal and postage can be arranged for Mainland UK if needed.
